Lyric Genie Docs
What everything in the app is, where it lives, and how the pieces connect.
Lyric Genie is a songwriter's notepad. You write lyrics, you capture ideas by voice, and the app keeps the two attached to each other so a hummed melody and the verse it belongs to never drift apart.
These docs are organised the way the app is: a page for each tab, a page for each kind of thing you make, and a page for every tool in the editor. Almost every question about Lyric Genie turns out to be a question about which thing something belongs to, which is why How it fits together is short and worth reading once.
Where to start#
If you are new, Your first song walks the whole app in ten minutes. Then read How it fits together, which covers the one thing that trips most people up: a recording is not stored inside the tab you made it in.
If you just want a quick answer, try the FAQ. If a word in the app means something you cannot guess, it is in the Glossary. If something is not behaving, go to Troubleshooting.
If you want to know exactly how long a recording can be or how many lookups you get on the free plan, that is on Plan limits, which is generated from the app's own configuration rather than typed by hand.
A note on these docs#
Screenshots here are taken from the current release. Where a screenshot has a red ring on it, the ring is pointing at the thing the surrounding paragraph is talking about.
Anything missing, wrong, or confusing is worth an email. The address is at the bottom of every page.
