Short answers to the questions people ask before they try the app.

Answers here are deliberately short. Each one links to the page that goes into it properly.

Does it write songs for me#

No, and it will not try. Every AI feature in Lyric Genie works on material you have already given it: a line to rewrite, a song with a mood and a theme attached, a phrase to find rhymes for. There is no button that produces a finished song from nothing.

The closest thing is Creative Spark, which writes new material for a song that already has an AI Context. See Wish Workshop.

Do I need Pro#

Not to write, not to record, and not to collaborate. The free plan gives you unlimited songs, 60 minutes of recordings, 30 rhyme lookups a day, and 7 of the larger AI calls.

Pro raises those limits and adds Refine Context and in-line suggestions. See Plans and Pro and Plan limits.

Can my co-writer use the free plan#

Yes. Collaboration is free on both sides. There is no difference between what a free co-writer and a Pro co-writer can do on a shared song.

Yes, and it is what makes syncing work. Your songs and recordings live in your account, so the same library appears on every device you sign in on.

Sign-in is Google or Apple. There is no email and password option. See Signing in.

I signed in with Google before and now I used Apple. Where are my songs#

In the Google account. Those are two separate accounts even with the same email address behind them. Sign out and back in with the other button. Nothing is lost.

Does it work offline#

Writing and recording do. Transcription and every AI feature need a connection, because the work happens on a server. If you lose the network mid-recording, the audio is kept and the words are not.

Can I get my lyrics out#

Yes, two ways. A lyric sheet publishes one song as a web page with your writer credits, at a link you can send to anyone. The share action also gives you plain text. See Lyric sheets.

Is a lyric sheet public#

Anyone with the link can open it. There is no password on it and it is not listed anywhere, so it is as private as the link is. It is also frozen at the moment you made it.

Can I delete a lyric sheet I already sent#

Yes. Open the song, choose Lyric Sheet from the ⋯ menu, and delete it from the Previous Sheets list. The link stops working for everyone at once.

Deleting your account does not do this for you, because sheets are published pages rather than account data. Take them down first if you want them gone. See Lyric sheets.

How many people can write on one song#

Invite as many as you like. Each one gets a tab. In practice the tab row gets crowded past four or five.

Does my co-writer see me typing#

Not keystroke by keystroke. Each writer has their own tab and their own copy of the lyrics, and you move material between them deliberately, by sending it. That is the point of the design: nobody edits over anybody.

What is the Master tab for#

The version you have agreed on. Everyone assembles it by sending their best sections to it. It cannot be typed in directly. See The Master.

Can I import lyrics I wrote somewhere else#

Yes. Paste them in, or import a file. Section headers are recognised on the way in, with or without brackets, so [Chorus] and Chorus both become a chorus. See Importing files.

Why did my stanza spacing change#

It should not any more. A version before 2.18 could flatten the spacing of earlier stanzas while you typed, and leaving the song and returning would restore it. Update if you are seeing it.
