Glossary

Every word the app uses for something of its own, in one place.

Lyric Genie names a few things in ways that are not obvious from the outside. This is what each one means.

What you make#

Song The document you write lyrics in. It holds the lyrics themselves, a title, an AI Context, a Scratchpad, any recordings you attach, and on a shared song a tab per writer. See Songs.

Concept An idea that is not a song yet: a title, a mood, a theme, and optionally some similar artists. Concepts sit upstream of songs and can become one when you are ready. See Concepts.

Recording A piece of audio. A recording belongs to a song, or to nothing yet. Either way it appears in the Recordings tab. See Recordings.

Project A named, colour-tagged folder that holds a list of songs. The colour shows on the folder and above the title of every song in it. An album, an artist you write for, a session. See Projects.

Inside a song#

AI Context Three fields attached to the song: mood, theme, and similar artists. Everything the AI writes for that song is steered by them. The song wizard collects them by asking you three questions. See The song editor.

Scratchpad A ruled notepad that slides up from the bottom of the editor. It saves with the song but is not part of your lyrics, so nothing in it reaches Perform or a lyric sheet. It stays private on a shared song.

Section A labelled block of a song: Verse, Chorus, Bridge and so on. A line becomes a section header when the app recognises its text, which it does with or without brackets. See Sections and song structure.

Arrange mode The mode where you select whole sections by their headers and move, copy, delete or send them. It is also how anything reaches the Master tab. See Arrange mode.

Perform Full-screen playback of the lyrics: black background, white words, no controls in the way. For singing from, not writing in. See Perform.

Lyric sheet A published web page of one song's lyrics, with writer credits, at its own link. It is a frozen snapshot, so editing the song afterwards does not change a link you already sent. See Lyric sheets.

The AI features#

Wish Workshop The genie lamp. With text selected it rewrites that text; with nothing selected it offers Creative Spark. Its requests are called wishes, and the row of chips above the field are ready-made ones. See Wish Workshop.

Creative Spark What Wish Workshop does when nothing is selected: writes new material for the song rather than reworking a line you already have.

Refine Context A Pro feature that reads your song and rewrites its AI Context fields for you, instead of you filling them in by hand.

AI Style Standing instructions that apply to every AI call in every song: a paragraph of style guidance, and a list of words you never want the AI to use. See AI Style.

In-line suggestions Ghost text that appears ahead of your cursor when you pause while writing. Tab or tap to accept. Silent if you do not have AI access. See In-line suggestions.

Anchor In the rhyme tool, one of the two stressed syllables the app picks out of your phrase. Rhymes are offered for each anchor separately, and for both at once. See Rhymes.

Faithfulness score The colour-coded number on a syllable-adjusted line, saying how close the new line stayed to your meaning. The highest score is not always the best line. See Syllables.

Collaboration#

Collaborator Someone you have invited to write on a song. Each one gets their own tab and their own colour.

Invite code A six character code, plus a share link, that lets someone join one song. It is not an email invitation and nothing is sent for you. The recipient enters it under Settings, Song Invite Code. See Inviting a co-writer.

Master tab The agreed version of a shared song, assembled from everyone's tabs. It is read-only: you change it by sending sections to it, reordering them, or deleting them. See The Master.

Mailbox The tray button in the toolbar of a shared song, carrying a count when a co-writer has sent you lines. See Sending lines to a co-writer.

Your account#

Writer profile Your legal name, publisher, performing rights organisation and contact email. These are the credits printed on a lyric sheet, and they are separate from your display name. See Your profile.

Display name What co-writers see. Separate from your writer profile and from your email.

Pro The paid plan. It raises the AI and recording limits and unlocks Refine Context and in-line suggestions. Collaboration is not a Pro feature. See Plans and Pro.
